Amicon® Ultra Centrifugal Concentrators
Fast and easy sample concentration for your biological applications!
Amicon® Ultra Centrifugal filters provide fast sample processing and promote high sample recoveries, even in dilute samples, through ultrafiltration. The unique features of the Amicon® Ultra centrifugal filters give you the fastest, most efficient concentration for sensitive downstream applications.
Advantages of Amicon® Ultra filters
True Dead Stop – The “dead stop” is the volume at which the device will no longer concentrate your sample. This feature provides:
- Avoids spinning to dryness
- Provides a predictable concentration factor
- No need to calibrate for several samples run in parallel
Reverse Spin Recovery – After you are finished concentrating your sample, simply invert it over a new collection tube and spin again to retrieve every drop. This feature provides:
- Maximum protein recovery without introducing pipetting errors
- Over 90% sample recovery, with low-binding membrane and polypropylene housing
Vertical membranes – Unlike some other centrifugal filters where the membrane is horizontal and perpendicular to the direction of filtration, Amicon® Ultra filters feature a vertical membrane, parallel to the direction of filtration. This feature provides:
- Less clogging, less waste and faster filtration
- Ultra-fast sample processing achieving concentration in as little as 10 minutes
- 25- to 80-fold concentration in a single step
Broad Chemical Compatibility – Amicon® Ultra filters are made of materials that are compatible with solutions with diverse chemical properties and pH ranging from 1 to 9.
Also, they are heat-sealed, with no adhesives used to secure the parts of the device to the membrane. This feature minimizes the chance that extractable impurities will leach into the sample.
Reliable Sample Handling – Spin precious samples with confidence in one robust, sleek unit that prevents leakage.
Applications
Protein Concentration, Nucleic Acid Concentration, Buffer Exchange, Dialysis, Desalting
Millex Syringe Filters
Millex® Syringe Filters set the standard for reliable, small-volume sterile filtration. Choose from a variety of membranes manufactured for reliable performance, low extractables and low binding. Merck non-sterile Syringe filters are used for sample preparation prior to analysis. They help to bring a sample to a format that is compatible with the analytical technique, reduces sample complexity, removes interfering impurities from matrix and thereby concentrates the analyte prior to analysis.
Depending on the application, Millex® Syringe filter are available in sterile or non-sterile form.
Several types of membranes are available depending of sample and analytes type.
Durapore® membrane
Non-sterile Millex® syringe filters with hydrophilic Durapore® (PVDF) membrane provide high flow rates and throughput, low levels of extractables and broad chemical compatibility. Hydrophilic PVDF membranes bind far less protein than nylon, nitrocellulose membranes, or PTFE membranes. Those syringe filters are available in two pore sizes and three diameters to optimize results.
Features & Benefits:
- Low protein binding to minimize interaction with your sample and maximize recovery
- Available in 0.22μm and 0.45μm pore sizes and three diameters to suit your application needs
- Housing materials are either polypropylene or high density polyethylene (HDPE), offering low levels of extractables and broad chemical compatibility.
Applications:
Sample Filtration Prior to UHPLC, HPLC and Mass Spec; Solvent Filtration; Filtration of Biological Samples and Protein Solutions
Nylon membrane
For the broadest chemical compatibility!
Non-sterile Millex® syringe filters with hydrophilic nylon membrane are compatible with a broad range of solvents, making them ideal for sample filtration of most aqueous and organic solvents across the laboratory. Syringe filters are available in two pore sizes and three diameters to optimize results. The housing is made from polypropylene, offering a low level of extractables and broad chemical compatibility.
Features & Benefits:
- Compatible with both aqueous and organic solutions, providing broad chemical compatibility and flexibility in the lab
- Available in 0.20μm and 0.45μm pore sizes and two diameters to suit your application needs
Applications:
- Sample Filtration Prior to UHPLC, HPLC and
- Mass Spec; Solvent Filtration;
- Clarification of Aqueous and Organic Solutions
PES Membrane
Fastest flow, high throughput!
Non-sterile Millex®syringe filters with Millipore Express® PLUS polyethersulfone (PES) membrane provide ultrafast filtration of aqueous solutions. This fast-filtering, low protein-binding membrane is preferred by many researchers. Syringe filters are available in two pore sizes and two diameters to optimize results. The housing is made from polypropylene, offering a low level of extractables and broad chemical compatibility.
Features & Benefits:
- Low protein binding to minimize interaction with your sample and maximize recovery
- High-throughput PES membrane provides fast filtration for large sample volumes
- Available in 0.22 μm and 0.45 μm pore sizes and two diameters to suit your application needs
Applications:
Buffer Filtration, Clarification of Aqueous Solutions
