Description

BD Trypticase™ Soy Agar is a general purpose medium which supports the growth of nonfastidious and moderately fastidious microorganisms.
  • Formula (per 1L purified water):
    • 15g pancreatic digest of Casein
    • 5g pancreatic digest of Soybean
    • 5g Sodium Chloride (NaCl)
    • 15g Agar
  • Casein and soy peptones supply organic nitrogen, amino acids and longer-chained peptides
  • Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic equilibrium
  • Not recommended for the primary isolation of microorganisms from clinical specimens
  • May be used for subcultivating bacterial strains isolated from clinical specimens to obtain pure cultures
  • May also be used for further differentiation and identification
