Description

Sodium hydroxide, pearl is an important inorganic chemical used in various industries worldwide. In the paper industry, it is utilized in pulping and bleaching processes. It plays an important role in aluminum etching, chemical analysis and in paint strippers. It is an active component in a wide range of domestic products such as pipe and drain cleaners, oven cleaners and in home-cleaning products. Other uses include cleaning of fats, cleaning of equipment, ion exchange resin regeneration, pH control, degreasing agent for cleaning metal surface, de-enameling and scrubbing of off-gases.

Solubility
Soluble in water, methanol, glycerol and ethanol. Insoluble in acetone and ether.

Notes
Air sensitive and hygroscopic. It is deliquescent and readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide in air. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids and organic materials.
