It is utilized for drying paints and varnishes. It serves as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It plays an important role in the separation of glycosaminoglycans. Further, it acts as a cationization agent for sensitive multiple reaction monitoring of plasma free fatty acid profiling in a fish oil human intervention. In addition, it is used in the process of titrating sulfates of quinine and quinidine in nonaqueous conditions.
